“Why I’d Try” Straight to Vinyl

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

In July 2010, we’re going to Chicago, IL to record our debut album with engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) at his studio Electrical Audio.

Famed for his devotion to analog recording methods, Albini’s rigorous, discerning, and maniac fixation on unencumbered sound is precisely what we seek out.

There will be no ProTools. No reliance on digital manipulation. No overdubs or other unnecessary obstacles that create unwanted space between the performance and the recording; the listener and the music.

We will be recording directly onto 2″ tape through all analog recording gear – much of which is exclusive to Electrical Audio. The benefits of this process are tremendous, not only for pure sonic quality, but for the integrity of the performances.

We feel there is something truly special about a band recording onto tape; with its limited tracks and inimitable warmth. We feel that this unfiltered quality has been lost in the age of modern recording.
